The term point, in backgammon, has 4 different meanings:
1. The 24 triangles marked on the backgammon board.
2. Triangle that has 2 or more checkers of the same color on it; see established point.
3. To point a blot.
4. A method of calculating scores; each backgammon game is valued based on the type of win: a regular game equals 1 point, gammon equals 2 point, and backgammon equals 3 points. When the doubling cube is used, those points are multiplied by its final value; in money play the game is predefined by a specific amount of money per point; and in match play the match is predefined by a certain number of points per match.
